These are the geospatial data products we are building next. New datasets derived from the same high-resolution aerial imagery and LiDAR workflows as Building Footprints, Land Cover, Tree Map and the rest of the product catalogue, are coming up, including a new API.

Everything in our roadmap is currently in production. If any of these products is critical for your project needs, let us know. Early interest often influences our roadmap order. We also typically offer pilot coverage over a specific area ahead of general release.

What we're currently building

Driveways - nearing release

Driveway surfaces as individual polygons, each linked to the building and address it serves, paired with a precision Access Point marking the actual entrance to the property from the road. Visit the Driveways page to learn more about formats, attributes and specifications.

Built for:

  • Stormwater and impervious surface accounting
  • Property underwriting
  • Last-mile routing and delivery
  • Next Generation 911 (NG911) address point work

Land Cover API - in active development

Land Cover served through an API, the way Building Footprints already are. An application can query what is on the ground at a location and get a response immediately, as a more instantaneous option to licensing and hosting a nationwide raster.

The dataset underneath is Land Cover, which you can readily license today. The API is an alternative pathway, aimed at teams whose own product needs land cover for one location at a time.

Built for:

  • Site screening
  • Environmental due diligence
  • Property and risk workflows
  • Applications that need land cover one location at a time

Roads - in development

Road surfaces are extracted from imagery as area features, allowing the paved surface to be measured. Road area is valuable for impervious and stormwater work, and they line up with our buildings, parking and driveway layers since they are derived from the same imagery.

Built for:

  • Road surface area measurement
  • Impervious surface and stormwater analysis
  • Reconciling paved area across sources that never quite agree

Swimming pools - in development

Swimming pools are detected from aerial imagery and distinguished from natural waterbodies such as ponds and lakes.

This product is in response to the demand from property underwriters, risk scorers and businesses who want to advertise products related to pools. An undeclared pool can change the liability on a policy. Municipalities need this data since pool permits, barrier requirements and safety inspections are enforced against what is actually in the ground, which is not always what was filed. Marketing and direct mailing companies would love to know which addresses are potential clients based on whether they contain a pool.

Built for:

  • Property underwriting and risk scoring
  • Municipal permitting and inspection
  • Property intelligence and assessment
  • Marketing and direct mailing

Solar panels - in development

Rooftop and ground-mounted solar arrays identified from imagery, with the panel footprint and the building beneath it.

Utilities and grid planners need this product to help them find distributed generation that is absent in their interconnection records. Insurers and assessors use it to see roof equipment prior to rolling out inspection trucks to the locations. Installers use it for market sizing and for working out which roofs are still available.

Built for:

  • Utility and grid planning
  • Distributed generation nobody has on record
  • Insurance and property assessment
  • Solar market sizing

Need something that is not on this list?

The products listed above will go into our standard catalogue. If you need a feature class that is not listed here, we would love to learn more about your needs and explore the possibility of building custom data solutions for you.
